Terms of Service

These terms cover your use of Teddy’s Book Workshop at workshop.teddyhanna.com (the “Workshop”), run by Teddy's Workshop (“we” or “us”). By creating an account or using the Workshop you agree to them, along with our Privacy Policy and Refund & Cancellation Policy.

1. Who the account belongs to

Every account belongs to an adult: someone 18 or older (or the age of majority where they live). That adult agrees to these terms and is responsible for everything done on the account.

• Children 13 and under may use the Workshop only together with their parent or guardian, on the parent’s account. The child should not create their own account or type in personal details such as their full name, address or school.
• Teens 14 to 17 may use the Workshop with a parent or guardian’s permission, and that parent or guardian accepts these terms on their behalf.

If we learn that a child is using the Workshop without a parent, we may suspend the account and delete what the child entered.

2. Signing in

There are no passwords. We email a one-time code to sign in, so anyone who can read your email can get into your account. Keep your email secure, and tell us at support@teddyhanna.com if you think someone else has used your account.

3. Plans and payment

Every account starts with a free trial that needs no card. Paid plans (currently Illustrator and Workshop) are monthly subscriptions, billed in advance through our payment processor, Stripe. By subscribing you authorize a charge each month until you cancel. Extra picture-credit packs are one-time purchases and don’t expire. 4. Your books belong to you

You keep all rights to the stories, characters, pictures and other material you make or upload (“your content”), including what you make with the AI helpers. You can publish and sell your books. You give us permission to store, process and send your content only as needed to run the Workshop for you, which includes sending it to the AI services listed in our Privacy Policy to produce what you ask for. We don’t claim ownership of your content, we don’t sell it, and we don’t use it to train AI models.

5. About AI-made writing and pictures

Quill and the picture tools use AI. AI can get things wrong, produce something similar to what it made for someone else, or produce something that isn’t right for your reader. Please read and look over everything before you use it, especially before publishing. You are responsible for the final book, including making sure it doesn’t copy someone else’s work. Depending on where you live, purely AI-made material may not be protected by copyright in the same way as your own writing and drawing.

6. Keeping it safe and kind

You agree not to use the Workshop to:

• make anything that sexualizes, exploits or endangers a child, or anything illegal;
• upload photos of real people without their permission, or anyone else’s private information;
• copy other people’s books, characters or art in a way that breaks their rights;
• harass anyone, or make hateful or violent material aimed at real people;
• get around usage limits, safety checks or sign-in, or overload or scrape the site; or
• resell access to the Workshop.

Our safety checks turn away some requests and photos automatically. We may remove content or suspend an account that breaks these rules. We report child sexual abuse material to the authorities as the law requires.

7. Ending your account

You can stop using the Workshop at any time. To cancel a subscription, use “Manage Subscription” on your Account page. To delete your account and everything in it, email support@teddyhanna.com from the address on the account. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, or when the law requires it, and we’ll tell you why unless we legally can’t. Sections 4, 5 and 8 to 11 continue after an account closes.

8. The Workshop is provided as is

We work hard to keep the Workshop running and your work safe, but we provide it “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent the law allows. Please download copies of books that matter to you (the Finish Line step has a Download button).

9. Limits on our liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, we aren’t liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits or lost data. Our total liability for any claim is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or $50 if that is more. Some places don’t allow these limits, so they may not all apply to you.

10. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. For a significant change we will email the account address or show a notice in the Workshop before it takes effect. If you keep using the Workshop after that date, the new terms apply.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Colorado, United States, apart from its conflict-of-laws rules. Before bringing any claim, please email support@teddyhanna.com so we can try to fix it first. Nothing here takes away rights you have under consumer law where you live.
